REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 2

Assalamualaikum. Welcome to my second reflective journal. I chose SDG 15: Life on Land.

Firstly, SDG 15 is important because it seeks to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of ecosystems. In my experience, I joined the planting trees and school cleaning activities in primary school. I thought this activity was hard for a kid like me and became a challenge for me. So, I thought that I needed to prepare my mental strength for this activity.

During the event’s day, the facilitator taught us that planting trees will reduce greenhouse gases and avoid climate change on Earth. Hearing this, I decided to be more focused on cleaning and planting trees activities. My friends and I followed the facilitators' instructions to make the activity go smoothly. I learned how important trees are in our environment that will give animals habitats, provide clean air and many more.

From those activities that day until these days, I realised that the climate today is getting worse. I also became more aware of the importance and value of life on land due to current climate change. So, I need to change this situation as a Khalifah that was given Amanah to protect the Earth as Maqasid Syariah indicates about Hifz An-Nafs (Protection of Life). I learnt that we as a citizen must at least do something small that benefits life on land such as planting trees, cleaning the dirty areas, and promoting SDG 15. That’s all from me. Thank you.
