Assalamualaikum to all readers. For my first-ever reflective journal, I chose SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
Firstly, good health and well-being
are important because they can lead to productive and fulfilling lives. UN defined SDG 3 as ensuring healthy lives
and promoting well-being for all, at all ages.
In my experience, I got a tumour on
the ring finger of my left hand when I was 10 years old and got sent to the
hospital ward. At that time, I was worried that I may not be able to live like
other children and live in the ward for a long time without being connected to
the outside world. I have mental challenges that I need to face. But somewhere
in my head, I always give my mind the positive thoughts to confront these
challenges.
But it did not turn up like I thought. The doctors and nurses always sent me nutritious food and often took my blood pressure levels to make sure I was fit for surgery. Seeing this, I thought that I should cooperate with them by listening and following their instructions who are experts in health matters to facilitate my surgery process to deal with the challenges. From these experiences, I learnt how valuable someone's life that people work so hard just so they can have a better life like how SDG 3 is promoted.
After getting out of the hospital, I
got to feel the outside world once again. Until today, I still think about
people who are like I used to be, full of sickness. I hope they can have a
better healthy life. From this event, I learnt to become more aware of my and
other people's health which is very important to take care of as Maqasid
Syariah indicates about Hifz An-Nafs (Protection of Life). I also learnt to
become more grateful to Allah for giving me and my loved ones good health. I
must always take care of my health and other people to achieve SDG 3's goals
and do something that may benefit other people's health like giving them
emotional support and charities. That's all from me. Thank you for reading my
journal.
